Why Are We Different?

In 2007, New England Forest Products was proud to receive the New Hampshire Timberland Owners Association Outstanding Forest Industry Award. This is an award given to a “forest products manufacturing business that exhibits outstanding business management, operations efficiency, product quality, and wood-based product marketing”.

When New England Forest Products was established in the Monadnock Region of New Hampshire in 1993, it began as a small hardwood manufacturing facility. From the beginning, NEFP has promoted sustainable forestry practices.

Sustainable forestry supports a renewable and valuable resource. Sustainably managed forests are an extremely important resource, and will continue to provide renewable lumber products for generations to come. Eighty four percent (84%) of New Hampshire is forested. The forest industry is an extremely important part of New Hampshire’s economy. Beginning with landowners who are given the tools needed to maintain ownership of their woodland, to providing open space in which we can enjoy our wonderful environment , to creating jobs for foresters, loggers, truckers, sawmill employees…who in turn are consumers of local products and services themselves.

One of the services that New England Forest Products provides is that of working directly with a landowner in determining goals and objectives, (including economic) for the present and the future, and the way by which to achieve those goals and objectives. A good forest management plan takes into account the health and quality of the forest, the desire for certain species of wildlife, the effect of the harvest on the surrounding environment and impact on future generations.

A forest management plan will include a timely harvest of the standing timber. Think of harvesting a woodlot like weeding a garden. In order to get the most wonderful carrots or beets or lettuce, you still have to weed out the “extra” so that the remaining plants can grow to their fullest potential. This is the same with managing a forest.

mill direct pricing - bark mulch, cordwood, and wood for sale
Here at New England Forest Products, we pride ourselves in being in a truly green business! Every single part of the tree that is harvested is put to good use. During the manufacturing of lumber from the timber logs, there is residue that is generated. Our sawdust is made into wood pellets, the wood chips are sold to utility companies for fuel source, the bark mulch is used for landscaping, and limbs and lower quality wood is sold for firewood.

Every product we offer is produced from local timber native to the area. The products have been conscientiously produced, keeping sustainability as a #1 objective. Because we are involved with the manufacturing process from start to finish, we are happy to be able to provide our customers with exceptional quality lumber at mill direct prices.
