A: A board foot is thickness times width times length divided by 12 (example: A 2" (inches thick) x 6"(inches wide) x 8' (feet long) board is multiplied out and will come to 96 INCHES. Then divide by 12 to give you board feet. This board will be 8 bd ft.); linear foot is a straight line measurement.
